Wordie W. Kilbourn, 87,  of Black River, NY, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.

He was born on January 22, 1938, in Carthage, NY, the son of Charles and Frieda (Burr) Kbourn. He was a graduate of Carthage Central High School and proudly served in the United States Army for three years before being honorably discharged.

On January 31, 1976, he married Pamela D. Cross in Black River, where the couple made their lifelong home. Wordie spent his entire career at the Deferiet Paper Mill, working as a beater engineer until his retirement.

He was a man who deeply loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, and had a special affection for animals—especially his cats.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Pamela D. Kilbourn; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alfred and Gail Kilbourn of Carthage, NY, and Latham Kilbourn of Lowville, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Raymond Kilbourn.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will take place, and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Black River Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. Online condolences may be shared at www.brucefh.com.
