Elizabeth I. Rolfe, 91, formerly of Adams Center, NY, passed away on February 2, 2024, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2020.
She was born on March 2, 1932, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Sovie) McCaffrey. Elizabeth attended Ogdensburg Free Academy and later married Charles E. Rolfe on October 12th, 1951, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Ogdensburg. Throughout Charles’ military service, the couple traveled the world and resided in Iceland, Kentucky, and Washington, D.C. The couple eventually settled in Town of Pamelia, NY upon his honorable discharge. Elizabeth was a homemaker and worked at Northern Electric in Watertown.
She cherished traveling to various states and loved watching ships on the river at Fisher’s Landing. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and cooking her favorite dishes, spaghetti and meatballs and macaroni salad. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and family members.
Elizabeth is survived by Ricky and Sue Rolfe, of Adams, Bruce and Lee Rolfe of Adams Center, David and Lori Rolfe of Farmington, NY, Christine Ellingsworth and her companion Patrick Haymond of GA; Stephen and Elizabeth Rolfe of Lafargeville, NY; Karen and Stephen Wright of Adams Center, Walter and Sarah Rolfe of Watertown, and William “Joe” and Christine Rolfe of Watertown. Elizabeth is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Sam.
She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Charles who passed away in 1988,four children, Donald, Charlie, Jeffrey Rolfe, and Diane Damico; a son-in-law, Mark Ellingsworth; grandson Jason Rolfe; two sisters, Virginia and June; and four brothers, Henry, Donald, Lawrence, and John “Jack” McCaffrey.
Arrangements are with the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7th, at Holy Family Church, followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
