Eva R. Thomas

Eva R. Thomas, 92, of Dexter, New York, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2023, at the Carthage Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Nursing Home.

She was born on January 22, 1931, in Watertown, New York, to the late Ross and Agnes  Busler Seery.

Eva attended school in Watertown and later married Norman Thomas on March 15, 1949. Throughout her life, Eva held various jobs, including positions at Weston’s Department Store, Dianne's Coffee Shop, and she and her husband owned and operated N. Thomas & Sons, a business they founded in 1969 and operated until its sale in 1986. Her dedication to work extended well into her later years, as she was employed from 2003 to 2022 at Walmart for an impressive 19 years, retiring at the age of 91 in March of 2022.

Eva was a dedicated member of the Dexter/Pillar Point Fire Department Auxiliary. Eva cherished her time with family and took great joy in her work.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Sterling Thompson of Clayton, New York; two sons and their wives, Ronnie and Rosie Thomas of Dexter, New York, and Ricky and Laurie Thomas of Copenhagen, New York; five grandchildren, Timothy Crump, Elizabeth Thomas, Issac and Melissa Thomas, Raechelle and Lance Willix, and Ronnie and Sheena Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; Anthony Lockman, Dakota Willix, Zachary Hickok, Kaeleigh Hickok, Ashlee Hickok, Haley Thomas and Jenna Thomas; two great-greatgrandchildren, Annamae Thompson and Arya Ruberg. She is also survived by step-grandchildren: Christopher and Nicole Tessier ,Benjamin and Mindy Tessier, Chad and Bethany Tessier;  Gene and Jessica Thompson, Paul Thompson, and Kris and Tricia VanOsdel; 13 step great-grandchildren,1 step-great-great-grandchild;  a sister Carol Farmer of Watertown, New York and several nieces and nephews.

Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband, as well as her siblings, Veronica Jereo, Wanda Rivenburgh, Louie Seery, Carl Seery, Terry Seery, Joseph Seery and Frannie Beach.

Calling hours for Eva will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place the following day at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Dexter Cemetery.
