Phyllis A. Dobson, 93, of Philadelphia, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Samaritan Summit Village.
Phyllis was born September 4, 1930, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of John and Catherine Cleary Blondin. Following her parents’ divorce, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Orland Raymo. She attended school in Watertown and then Gouverneur, New York.
On September 23, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Philadelphia New York, she married Carlton J. Dobson. For several years they lived on Carpenter Road, Antwerp, New York. Carlton passed away on June 29, 1984. Following her husband’s death, Phyllis moved to Philadelphia, NY to care for her mother. She continued to reside on Main Street until January 2023.
Throughout her marriage, she helped her husband with his various farming operations. She also worked at the restaurant that Orland and Catherine Raymo ran in Philadelphia. Phyllis was a poll worker during elections, and she volunteered as a patient advocate. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Phyllis treasured her family and friends. She was the family historian, keeping track of every important event in family members’ lives, from birth to death. She is survived by her Godson and first cousins, Timothy Cleary, Troy, MO and Daniel Cleary, Watertown, NY; numerous second and third cousins, and two loving caregivers, Rhonda Carlisle and Denise Call.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday 2nd at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery.
