Susan G. Greenwood, 79, of Evans Mills, NY, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center.
She was born on February 12, 1944, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Ralph and Iva (Farrell) Doxtater. Susan graduated from Indian River Central School and went on to have a lifelong career as a civilian employee on Fort Drum, retiring as a manager of AAFES.
On May 29, 2010, she married James L. LaDuke in Brownville, NY. James retired from AJ Missert as a salesman and was the owner of the French Quarter restaurant.
Susan found joy in gardening, collecting various items, shopping for her grandchildren, and traveling with her husband. A communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Evans Mills, she also had a deep love for her dogs.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband, James L. LaDuke; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven (Sue) Greenwood of Marietta, GA; two sons-in-law, Bruce and Sue Prior, of Watertown and David Summerville of SC; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Jami (Rob) Hawthorne of Middle Grove, NY, Mary Kay (Dan) Greene of Copenhagen, NY and Kelly (Bob) Connell of Watertown, NY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog, Coco.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by two daughters, Tammy Prior and Sandra Summerville, and a granddaughter, Mary Prior.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 2nd, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home, 117 North Massey St., Watertown.
A Funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3rd, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Evans Mills. Burial will be held in Evans Mills Cemetery on Monday, May 20th at 11 a.m.
